The Gulf oil spill precipitated by the Deep Horizon well disaster will go down in history as a signature environmental disaster.  What about the guy at the top- in this case BP’s CEO Tony Hayward?  While BP employees have shouldered an incredible workload dealing with the crisis, Hayward’s low key persona, contradictory statements and inability to inspire confidence are powering increased speculation that his days as CEO are numbered.  BP’s stock has taken a beating, and the damage to the firm’s reputation is worse.  Two interviews from Bloomberg Television on this subject, plus a recent statement by Hayward himself:
