Seven-Term Congresswoman Has Made Over $80,000 From Flipping Foreclosed Homes

 

WASHINGTON —  For over 50 months, Nevada has been the foreclosure capital of the country and now it’s been reported that for some of those Nevadans who were unable to stay in their homes, Congresswoman Shelley Berkley’s husband has been busy gobbling up those houses and flipping them for a profit.

Berkley’s husband has already made over $80,000 from flipping two foreclosed homes and while the Congresswoman claims she is divorced from the transactions, her pocket book certainly isn’t separated from these sales.

Notably, it was just three months ago that the New York Times reported that Berkley’s cause is often her husband’s gain, because she used her position to help him secure a $738,000-a-year contract with University Medical Center and has pushed for legislation that would financially benefit his business.

“First, Shelley Berkley used her office to secure federal funding for her husband’s medical practice.  Now, she’s capitalizing on the down economy by buying and flipping foreclosed homes,” said National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesman Jahan Wilcox.  “It’s hard to say what’s worse: The Berkley-Obama economic policies that drove so many Nevadans into foreclosure, or Berkley capitalizing on their misfortune.”
