The Truth About Harry Reid’s “Myth” About Gov’t Red Tape
From Nevada News & Views:
(Chuck Muth) – Recently, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took to the floor of the United States Senate to pontificate over what he called the “myth” of job-killing government regulations and rules. Reid claimed Republicans “have yet to produce a single shred of evidence that the regulations they hate so much do the broad economic harms they claim. That’s because there is none.”
For a man assumed to be drug free, Harry sure can be delusional sometimes.
To explode Reid’s myth about the “myth” of job-killing regs & rules, I have one word for you: FedEx.
The simple, market reality is that government regulations and rules make hiring an employee an expensive royal pain-in-the-keister. Government-mandated minimum wages, prevailing wages, overtime rules, workers comp, withholding, payroll reports, family leave rules, discrimination laws, health care mandates, hiring & firing regulations, etc., etc., etc.
There are entrepreneurs all over the country right now who simply say if they have to hire employees to operate a certain business, then they won’t go into that business. Instead, they’ll devote their profit-generating, job-creating skills and ambitions to businesses that allow them to hire any expertise or services they need from independent contractors rather than hassle with government’s employee rules and regulations.
