Under the Fedora: Various Tidbits

We are in our second full week of all Rush Limbaugh all the time from online left. Take a look at memeorandum from yesterday
Well at least it shows the MSM/left really cares about women although for some reason another story involving the plight of women got very little coverage by the MSM:
Afghan president backs strict guidelines for women
Guidelines? What kind of guidelines might they be?
Among the rules: Women should not travel without a male guardian and women should not mingle with strange men in places like schools, markets or offices. Beating one’s wife is prohibited only if there is no “Shariah-compliant reason,” it said, referring to the principles of Islamic law.
Now you would think that this would be huge news, I mean if Rush calling a 30 year old activist a “slut” is an attack on all women this will surely get the attention of defenders of women everywhere. Oddly I didn’t find a memeorandum thread on the CBS story, but the BBC story had a thread. Surely the thread must be massive…
…or not.
Well it’s understandable, what’s calling an activist a “slut” compared to forced escorts for women and wife beating?
The left will always tell you what they really care about.
The attack on Rush continues today, but it appears that some business are coming to the conclusion that they have made a mistake, a permanent mistake. Rush hinted that at least two advertisers were asking to come back and one of them Sleep Train, has been publicly told by Rush: Get Stuffed:
“Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh’s character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the Future.”
Ok that’s a more polite version of “Get Stuffed” but consider; They had advertised with him for 25 years and folded like a cheap blanket. After hearing from that 20 million person listener base they not only wanted him back, but they wanted a voiced endorsement meaning that they wanted Rush himself to voice their ads, that comes with a premium price but apparently not enough to buy Rush.
I guess stories of Rush’s show’s impending doom are greatly exaggerated.
As for Sleep Train, Allahpundit nailed it:
They’ve alienated the right by abandoning him and irritated the left by going squishy over it. Have we learned nothing from l’affaire Komen, my friends? Rule one of inserting yourself into a hot-button public debate: Once you pick a side, stick to it. Sheesh.
There is one more aspect of the Fluke story that has gotten no press but Roxeanne De Luca is on it:
I have been beating the “young women of the world, have you all lost your minds?” drum for quite some time here at Haemet. And I will continue to do so. According to Fluke and the other lefties, the plight of women is so dire that they are left pleading before Congress to pay for the condoms and Pills that their lame-ass sex partners won’t pay for. Could we humiliate young women any more?
She offers two rules for women that I really am uncomfortable quoting but as Andrew Breitbart taught us, sometimes you have to say the truth aloud:
1. Don’t f*** cads who refuse to to toddle over to CVS and buy a box of Trojans before the evening’s Kama Sutra extravaganza.
2. If you feel the need to violate Rule 1, buy a vibrator or see a shrink.
And lo and behold what do we see from the Boston Herald on the dating scene in that most liberal and liberated state of Massachusetts and that most progressive city of Boston?
Match.com teamed up with Glamour magazine and reported yesterday that single ladies in the Hub are the least happy with their dating lives, when compared with other women in the 10 most populous states. Glamour and Match.com have a theory for the Boston blues: One of eight Hub men expect sex on the first date -— the highest rate according to the survey
We’ll give Anne Colleta blog the last word:
You’ve nailed the dirty, little secret of the so-called “sexual revolution”: the primary result has been allow men to be sexual pigs. All that marching and bra-burning and lawsuits…just so men can treat women like dirt.
Simply amazing or maybe it’s Karma?
Speaking of Karma, have you heard of the Fisker Karma,? This $100,000 car built in Finland by a company subsidized by the Obama administration was tested by vaunted consumer magazine Consumer Reports and achieved results unmatched in their entire history of testing automobiles:
We buy about 80 cars a year and this is the first time in memory that we have had a car that is undriveable before it has finished our check-in process.
Yes that’s right the car broke down during initial calibration tests
Now THAT’ may be Bad karma but the administration hasn’t given up on tax breaks for electric cars:
Are you having a hard time convincing yourself to buy a Chevy Volt? Perhaps a $10,000 instant tax credit will change your mind.
According to a fact sheet sent to reporters today, President Obama will once again highlight a proposal to increase the tax credit for electric vehicles.
More importantly, the president will propose making that tax credit available as soon as you buy the vehicle.
Mind you that isn’t a tax deduction that is a tax credit, worth the full $10,000 dollars of taxpayer money.
The car’s list price is just under $40K, can someone tell me how this isn’t a tax break for the rich?

On Morning Joe all week they have been plugging the movie Game Change based on the Sarah Palin chapters of Morning Joe Regulars Mark Halperin and John Heilemann book of the same title.
I don’t begrudge them this. It’s natural that the show would be go long on a movie made out of the writing of two regulars but the most interesting thing I’ve seen watching it all week has been the way Sarah Palin has been treated in the discussion about the movie. They are going out of their way to push the meme that Palin is treated as a sympathetic character in the picture.
Since MSNBC’s rather small base likes Sarah Palin slightly less that Attila the Hun (who am I kidding they like Sarah Palin a LOT less that Attila the Hun) this tell me that for all the hype the Sarah Palin fans that made her books financial successes are upset about this picture. As Glenn Reynolds put it:
So if you’re mad, cancel HBO — or cancel cable altogether — and get a Roku box or something. Just tell ‘em why you’re canceling when you do.
I suggest this movie was planned and produced when everyone thought Sarah Palin would be running for president and the folks behind this movie who have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to democrats and zero to republicans conceived it as a political hit on her at what would either be a key moment in the GOP primary or at a point where she would conceivably have already been the GOP nominee.
Palin not running turns an expensive movie from an in kind political donation to a flick that cost a lot of money for little return.
Is it any wonder that they are pushing this like there’s no tomorrow?
Footnote #1 Does anyone seriously think that the tone at the Morning Joe table would be as conciliatory if Palin was in the race right now, or would they be making Palin jokes as they did most of last year?
Footnote #2 Does anyone doubt that Julianne Moore will win awards for her performance since it will highlight yet another Pseudo Palin. I suspect if the motion picture academy could have gotten away with giving an award to porn star Lisa Ann who played Palin in the Hustler parodies they would have.
There was a memorial to Andrew Breitbart this week in Boston and Many a glass was raised in his honor.
Jeff Semon running for congress in ma-5 was there, as was Rob Eno of Red Mass Group and Radio Talk show host Michael Graham. American Glob and I both covered the event
I talked to the owner of JJ Foley’s at length, the business had been his father’s before his. He worked there for 40 years and talked about how you make a business like that survive, particularly in a tough economy, you show up every day, you make yourself be seen, you produce a quality product, and you put in the time to make a difference for yourself and the people who work for you
That what Andrew Breitbart did for his short life, he worked hard and created a quality product and made a difference for not only himself but for conservatism and the truth.
He certainly made a difference to Jon who organized the event
It’s this kind of reaction that rightly has the left shaking in their boots.
Let’s close with comedy, I was recently told that the Chuck Lorie used one of his 2 second cards to hit the Catholic Church. I don’t know if it’s true and frankly I don’t care. I’ve never met Mr. Lorie and have little or no interest in his views on politics or religion
What I do know is his show the Big Bang theory is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen
I dare you to watch this and not laugh.
BTW, I’m kind of in-between computers this week so next week’s column might be a tad late.
