How to Win a Hunting Rifle Autographed by Ted Nugent!

If you’ve been following the news for the last week or so, you know that rock-and-roll legend Ted Nugent got himself in a little hot water with the Secret Service (as opposed to the hot water some agents landed in with some nice ladies of the evening in Cartegena, Columbia recently!).

The brouhaha was over comments the “shock rocker” made at the recent National Rifle Association (NRA) convention in St. Louis.  Here’s what Nugent said that reportedly caught the Secret Service’s attention:

“If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year. … We need to ride into  that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. … Or president, attorney general, our vice president, Hillary Clinton – they’re criminals, they’re criminals.”

No shrinking violet is he.

Now, clearly Nugent was doing nothing more than exercising his right to metaphorical free speech, but the Secret Service interviewed him about his comments last weekend anyway.   Here’s what Nugent said afterwards:

“I met with two fine, professional Secret Service agents today.  Good solid professional meeting concluding that I have never made any threats of violence towards anyone.  The meeting could not have gone better.  I thanked them for their service, we shook hands and went about our business.”

Nevertheless, the United States Army subsequently cancelled a Nugent concert that was scheduled for late June.  “After learning of opening act Ted Nugent’s recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation,” said a statement on the post’s Facebook page.

The Empire strikes back!  Which brings us to the rifle raffle.

Well before the Nugent/Obama flare-up, Bob Irwin of The Gun Store in Las Vegas generously donated an Axis Stainless XP hunting rifle to Citizen Outreach to be raffled off at the 2012 Conservative Leadership Conference in Las Vegas June 8-10.  But here’s the better news…

The gun stock has been personally autographed by Ted Nugent!

And that makes this particular rifle darned near priceless…especially in light of last week’s run-in with Obama’s Secret Service detail.

The raffle tickets are only $10 each…but everyone who attends the conference this year will automatically receive one rifle raffle ticket FREE.  So register NOW.  The super Early Bird discounts expire in one week!  Click HERE

Rock on, Ted

P.S.  Nugent is also a “Special Deputy” for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio…who will again be a featured speaker at the 2012 Conservative Leadership Conference.  Here’s a picture of Sheriff Joe swearing in the “Motor City Madman.”

The Obama Economy: ‘A Tough Time To Be Young’

‘Half Of Young College Graduates Either Jobless Or Underemployed,’ Millions ‘Have Moved Back In With Their Parents’

More Than Half ‘Disappointed,’ ‘Worried’ Or ‘Angry’ With The Obama Presidency

ABC NEWS: “A survey released Thursday showed that only 34 percent of 18-to-24-year-olds are ‘satisfied’ with the Obama presidency. More than half — 51 percent – said they were either ‘disappointed,’ ‘worried’ or ‘angry,’ according to the survey from the Public Religion Research Institute and Georgetown University’s Berkeley Center.” (“Bad Economy Puts Obama In Tight Spot With Young Voters,” ABC News, 4/20/12)

·         “Young adults hit hard by the recession… And the gap in employment between the young and all working-age adults—roughly 15 percentage points—is the widest in recorded history. In addition, young adults employed full time have experienced a greater drop in weekly earnings (down 6%) than any other age group over the past five years.” (Pew Research Center, 2/9/12)

AP: “The college class of 2012 is in for a rude welcome to the world of work. A weak labor market already has left half of young college graduates either jobless or underemployed…” (“1 In 2 New Graduates Are Jobless Or Underemployed,” The Associated Press, 4/22/12)

PEW: “Roughly a quarter of adults ages 18 to 34 (24%) say that, due to economic conditions, they have moved back in with their parents in recent years after living on their own. Among those ages 25 to 29, the share moving back home rises to 34%.” (Pew Research Center, 2/9/12)

MSNBC: “Their employment prospects are dim, their debt is high, their lives are on hold and a stunning number are living with their parents, even into their 30s. They are young adults, 18 to 34, struggling to begin their adult lives during the worst economy since the Great Depression, and they risk becoming a lost generation…” (MSNBC, 11/2/11)

A Message to the Senate: Stop Pointing Fingers and Do Your Job! #duringthelastbudget

Bankrupting America, a project of Public Notice, has released a new video showing the continued dysfunction in Washington.  The video is a call to action for Americans to get involved by calling their Senator urging them to ‘stop pointing fingers and do their job’.

Congress last passed a budget on April 29, 2009, almost three years ago. Since then, Members of Congress from both parties have failed to work together to perform one of the federal government’s most basic functions.

Bankrupting America is starting a campaign to say ‘Enough is Enough’ and get Congress to do their jobs and pass a budget. Call your Senator at 1-888-760-7997 and tell them to pass a budget.

The Budget Games

Both sides of the aisle have taken turns blaming each other for our nation’s fiscal situation. After years of talk, will we actually see action?

WE’VE HEARD THE RHETORIC; WHERE’S THE RESPONSIBILITY?

 • The Last Passed Budget Resolution
 • Economic Snapshot
 • What They’re Saying

The Last Passed Budget Resolution

The last time Congress completed the budget process was on April 29, 2009.

 • The House passed the conference report for the budget on April 29, 2009, by a vote of 233 – 193.
 • The Senate passed the conference report for the budget on April 29, 2009, by a vote of 53 – 43.

Economic Snapshot

Today, 5.3 million Americans have spent over 27 weeks looking for work. Additionally, since President Obama took office in 2009, the public debt has increased nearly 45% as of this date, it has increased 47 percent to be exact.  (To be clear, we rounded down to 45 percent in the video.).

What They’re Saying

In both the House and the Senate, key political players have involved themselves in smearing the opposition while the country continues to wait on a long-term plan for fiscal sustainability:
[li]

Sen. Kent Conrad, Chair of the Senate Budget Committee (D-North Dakota)

Brit Hume: We’re now approaching three years since a budget was passed, and you’re about to retire. How do you feel about that?
Conrad: I feel good about retiring; that’s for sure.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin)

They didn’t want their fingerprints on a plan. That’s why they didn’t pass a budget the last two years.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Delaware)

The reality is we’re not going to get a budget resolution out of the Senate.

Sen. Kent Conrad, Chair of the Senate Budget Committee (D-North Dakota)

There’s very little chance we’re going to get the two sides together before the election.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama)

The leadership in this body won’t even bring up a budget. He said it was foolish.

Sen. Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader (D-Nevada)

House Republicans are going to make another excuse, create another diversion, and avoid another tough choice.

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio)

The Senate’s done nothing. There’ve been no markups over in the Senate. There ain’t even been any effort in the Senate, three years, three years and they’ve failed to move a budget.

Sen. Kent Conrad, Chair of the Senate Budget Committee (D-North Dakota)

What we don’t have is a longer-term plan.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri)

The reason we didn’t get a budget last year is because Mitch McConnell objected.

Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Arizona)

Senate Democrats now for the third year in a row will not have passed a budget. That’s their job.

Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nevada)

We’re not doing our jobs, we’re not doing our business, and the American people are suffering because of it.

BANKRUPTING AMERICA LAUNCHES ONLINE ADVOCACY
CAMPAIGN URGING SENATE TO VOTE ON A BUDGET

ARLINGTON, VA – Bankrupting America, a project of Public Notice, today announced a multipronged online educational advocacy campaign leading up to the three-year anniversary since the last time Congress passed a budget. The campaign includes a web video, online advertising, a Twitter hashtag campaign and a grassroots call to action urging the Senate to pass a budget.

Congress last passed a budget on April 29, 2009, almost three years ago. Since then, Members of Congress from both parties have failed to work together to perform one of the federal government’s most basic functions.

Gretchen Hamel, executive director of Public Notice, issued the following statement announcing the campaign:

“It is unfathomable that Congress continues to spend taxpayer dollars without passing a budget.  Families across America have to plan out budgets to make ends meet and they should expect the same from their elected officials.

“Congress needs to stop pointing fingers and do its job. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness among taxpayers that their representatives in Washington are failing in their most basic of duties.”

The Twitter hashtag campaign will involve tweets of what was happening in the world when the Senate last passed a budget.  For example: No one had heard of an iPad #duringthelastbudget

Muslim Brotherhood in America, Part 8: Team Obama & the Islamists

This Course draws exclusively upon information in the public domain and that obtained from  first-hand accounts.  There is, assuredly, considerably more information that would be helpful to making to a full threat assessment.  The findings below, based solely on what is currently available, should prompt those with access to classified information, subpoena power and other investigative tools to bring them to bear urgently for that purpose.
[li]

 • Shariah is a totalitarian, brutally repressive and supremacist doctrine.  Its adherents – notably, the Muslim Brotherhood – seek to bring it here.

 • Shariah is principally about power, not faith.  Accordingly, acting to realize its political end of overthrowing the U.S. government is seditious and must be prosecuted, not treated as protected religious practice.

 • The Brotherhood is not a non-violent group.  Rather, in most countries where it operates including the United States, it is in a pre-violent phase.

 • The Muslim Brotherhood’s strategic plan, the group’s mission in America is a “civilization-jihadist process…a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within” by our hands.

 • The Muslim Brotherhood’s civilization jihad is being pursued through stealthy means involving the penetration and subversion of this country’s civil society and governing institutions.  Presidencies of both parties have been compromised in this way.

 • One determinant of the success of such a stealthy, pre-violent jihad is what the military calls “information dominance.”  If the Muslim Brotherhood can exercise it, we can be kept ignorant of the true nature of the threat they pose – and the progress they are making in bringing shariah to America.  That has been substantially the case over the past ten years and increasingly of late.

 • The Muslim Brotherhood was helped in its efforts to achieve information dominance over the George W. Bush administration, thanks to collaboration between a top Muslim Brotherhood operative, Abdurahman Alamoudi, and anti-tax activist Grover Norquist.

 • In addition to al Qaeda financier Alamoudi, Norquist helped mainstream in the Bush campaign and/or administration five other Muslims with extensive ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.  They were: the Islamic Free Market Institute’s Khalid Saffuri, CAIR’s Nihad Awad, Palestinian Jihad’s Sami al-Arian, the Fiqh Council’s Muzzamil Siddiqi and Suhail Khan, a former staffer for Rep. Tom Campbell of California.

 • In his capacity as the de facto Muslim gatekeeper in the Office of Public Liaison under senior Bush advisor Karl Rove, and then as an assistant in the personal office of the Secretary of Transportation, Khan had, at a minimum, an opportunity to facilitate the penetration of other Islamists.

 • Both during and after the Bush administration, Norquist has used various organizations to promote Islamist agendas.  These have included Red-Green coalitions made up of radical and other leftists and Muslim Brotherhood front groups with whom they routinely make common cause, to the detriment of U.S. security, constitutional freedoms and other interests.

 • Norquist has worked for years to “create relations with top political leaders and Muslims.”  Of late, that has included running such Muslims for elective office as Republicans.  Three of his protégés – Kamal Nawash, Faisal Gill and Imad “David” Ramadan – have met with mixed results in their runs for state legislative seats in Virginia thanks to troubling questions about their backgrounds and associations.

 • Norquist continues to support Islamist agenda items and to work to counter initiatives opposed by the Brothers.  In the process, he has collaborated with radical leftists and Islamists in Red-Green Coalitions, the latter include Iranian influence operations.

 • The precedents, personnel and policies promoted by Norquist and his friends during the George W. Bush administration have metastasized dramatically under that of President Obama.

 • Notably, six Islamist-sympathizers have achieved positions within or advisory roles serving Team Obama:  Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Rashad Hussein; Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Huma Abedein; Presidential advisor Dalia Mogahed; FBI Citizens Academy graduate Kifah Mustafa; Homeland Security Advisory Committee Member Mohamed Elibiary and Homeland Security Countering Violent Extremism Working Group Member Mohamed Magid.

 • The conduct of seven key federal agencies suggests the considerable success of the Muslim Brotherhood in destroying us from within by our own hands – starting with the policies and directives emanating from the Oval Office and elsewhere in the White House complex, and including the priorities and activities of: the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Departments of State, Justice, Defense and Homeland Security and even NASA.

 • There are myriad steps Americans can – and must – take to counter this civilization jihad.  Some can be undertaken as individuals; some through organized efforts; and others as a nation.

[/li]
In light of these findings, there is an urgent need for rigorous congressional oversight and investigations aimed at exposing the extent of the civilization jihad – and the need for corrective action aimed at countering it, particularly by federal authorities.  Such legislative branch initiatives should be accompanied by corresponding actions initiated by Inspectors General and, as appropriate, law enforcement.

Berkley-Adelson feud has potential to alter politics on a national level #NVSen

From the Las Vegas Sun:

For perhaps the first time since the pair’s public falling out, Adelson’s money poses a potential threat to Berkley, who faces the most difficult campaign of her political career.

Her bid for the U.S. Senate against Republican Dean Heller is expected to be close and a race that could change which party controls the Senate — and will draw millions of dollars in outside spending.

Adelson’s millions, no doubt, will be among them.

“His role in the U.S. Senate race will be substantial,” said a Republican operative familiar with Adelson’s political spending. “This time it’s even more important because his contributions could mean a lot more, not just in the outcome of Berkley’s race, but in the entire makeup of the U.S. Senate.”

Adelson has already made a name for himself as a political donor this cycle. He and his family spent about $20 million supporting Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich. Politico also reports Adelson has given $5 million to a political committee aimed at guarding the Republican majority in the House.

President Obama and the misunderstood youth vote

From the Washington Post:

Everyone knows that one of the pillars of President Obama’s 2008 victory was young people. What most people don’t get is how exactly the youth vote mattered to Obama.

As the president travels to Colorado today to kick off a tour of college campuses to promote the extension of lower interest rates for student loans — official business, ahem, says the White House — it’s worth re-examining what happened among young people in the 2008 election and whether he can re-create that magic in 2012

The most common misconception about 2008 is that Obama grew the youth vote — defined for our purposes as those between 18 and 29 years old — by any significant measure as compared to past elections. He didn’t.

Take a look at this chart, which details the percentage of the overall electorate 18-29-year-old voters comprised in every presidential election since 1980:

Young voters comprised 18 percent of the electorate in 2008, a one-point improvement from their share of the electorate in 2004, 2000 and 1996, but nowhere near the heights they reached in the 1980s.

What Obama did do — good grammar! — is win young voters by a far greater margin than any Democratic presidential nominee in modern times.

Again, we turn to a chart looking at the percentages the Democratic and Republican nominees won among 18-29-year-old voters:

Obama’s 34-point margin among young people was almost double the next best showing by a Democratic nominee; Bill Clinton won 18-29-year-old voters by 19 points in his sweeping 1996 reelection victory.

The youth turnout then was far less consequential to Obama’s victory than the consolidation of the 18-29-year-old vote behind his candidacy.

Looking forward to 2012 then, Obama doesn’t need to drive record turnout among young people — it’s a virtual impossibility that turnout among 18-29-year olds will approach the 24 percent of the electorate they

comprised in 1984 — but rather to maintain (or come close to maintaining) his margin among that group.

Polling provides a muddled picture of whether Obama can hope to recreate that sort of margin.

Vast Right Wing Reign Of Terror (VRWROT)

VRWROT
Because the Dems no longer maintain their super-majority in both chambers of Congress, the President isn’t getting everything rubber stamped and rammed through. This means, according to David Axelrod, that the conservative Republicans are imposing a “reign of terror” on all those Republicans that want to go back to rubber stamping Obama’s agenda.

How the Fed Affects Your Life and Money

FLI_FED_building

The Federal Reserve can help or hurt your finances in a matter of minutes, depending on what it says and does.

Interest rates on credit cards, mortgages and auto loans are at stake each time Fed members meet to set the key federal funds rate. Even your chances of getting a loan at all can be affected by what happens at Federal Open Market Committee meetings.

The Fed doesn’t control consumer rates directly, but it sets the federal funds rate, which is what banks pay to borrow money from one another. In theory, when the federal funds rate is low, banks have more money available to lend, and consumers can borrow at lower costs.

The Fed has kept the federal funds rate near zero percent since the financial crisis in 2008, but it can’t keep it at the bottom forever.

The Fed may influence your finances even when the federal funds rate is left unchanged. That’s because investors pay close attention to what Fed members say, including their perspective on the economy and plans for new monetary policy. Here is a closer look at how much power the Fed has over your financial life.                More
