AFP Launches New Wasteful Spending Ad
AFP’s “Wasteful Spending” ad holds President Obama accountable for sending billions of taxpayer dollars to “green energy” companies overseas, even while Americans suffer with rising energy prices and a lack of jobs.
It was bad enough when, more than 3 years ago, President Obama ratcheted up government spending and the debt with his $831 billion stimulus package, while promising to create jobs and boost economic growth here in America. But now, we’re finding out that billions of those stimulus dollars were actually spent helping “green energy” companies overseas!
More than 13 million Americans are unemployed, with thousands more dropping out of the workforce each month. But rather than helping Americans, the Obama Administration is working to create “green jobs” in foreign countries!
Let’s take a look at some stimulus “green energy” highlights:
- $2.3 billion in tax credits went to create jobs in foreign countries.
- $1.2 billion went to a solar energy company to help finance a new plant in Mexico.
- $500 million to an electric car company which created hundreds of jobs in Finland.
- Tens of millions of dollars to build traffic lights in China.
These are your stimulus dollars at work and Americans for Prosperity is working hard to bring this unmitigated outrage to light with our most recent television ad, which will run in 8 key states. Click here to see the ad when it goes live at 2:30ET!
The television ad will only be the beginning. AFP will be pushing hard on all fronts (social media, grassroots events, etc.) to ensure that every American knows that we must put grassroots pressure on President Obama for his disastrous economic policies. At 1:30ET today, AFP will be hosting a live press conference in Washington, D.C., to roll out the new television ad as well as our grassroots efforts, and you can watch live via Facebook webcast. Click here to see the press conference live!
Thousands of you joined our No Stimulus efforts before the stimulus passed in 2009. Now, take action once again, and tell President Obama to Stop Tanking America! The President promised to fight for hardworking Americans, but instead, he’s stood in the way of projects that would create thousands of American jobs and reduce energy costs. Tell President Obama that American tax dollars should help American taxpayers!
Click here to sign the Stop Tanking America petition!
We cannot allow reckless government spending to go unchecked, particularly when the money goes overseas. Spread the word. Tell your family, your friends, your neighbors, and anyone who will listen about this Administration’s lack of regard for American jobs and the American economy. And “Like” AFP on Facebook at www.facebook.com/fightback, so you can share AFP’s ad via social media. Together, let’s expose the hypocrisy of the stimulus dollars sent overseas.
Sincerely,
Tim Phillips

Media and Congress Spread the Word on Muslim Brotherhood in America
April 26, WASHINGTON, DC: On Tuesday, April 24, Frank Gaffney unveiled a controversial 10-part online video course explaining why we are losing the Jihadists’ war on America. Titled The Muslim Brotherhood in America, the course is receiving significant attention among the media and Congressional leaders.
Erick Stackelback, a terrorism analyst at CBN News described the course as “for the average American to learn about the Muslim Brotherhood. It breaks down the group, what they’re about and why they are so dangerous.”
On Glenn Beck’s April 26 radio show, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, said of the Muslim Brotherhood, “I think this is the number one issue facing our country right now. People have no idea how far, how deep, how wide the Muslim Brotherhood has penetrated the upper echelons here in the United States.” Additionally, she recently told CBN, “President Obama is more responsible for the rise of Sharia in the Middle East…He’s excited the Islamists to embrace Sharia not only in the Middle East, but here in the United States”
Also today, Bill Gertz, in his weekly Washington Times column Inside the Ring reinforced the concerns about Muslim Brotherhood influence on the Obama administration, stating, “The video includes a detailed section on “Team Obama” that identifies six people working close to or inside the Obama administration that the course says are linked to the Muslim Brotherhood or similar Islamist groups through numerous front organizations.” Gertz added, “Publication of the online course comes as Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reportedly ordered a review of U.S. military training material with the goal of purging allegedly anti-Islamic content, the online portal Danger Room reported Tuesday… A military source critical of Gen. Dempsey’s move said the chairman’s action is a politically correct effort to “make our professional military education fit a narrative, not objective inquiry.”
The press conference generated national media interest, with interviews with Frank Gaffney on Fox and Friends and Hugh Hewitt.
If you missed the press conference, please view the video highlights:
Introduction to Muslim Brotherhood Course
Frank Gaffney: “Civilization Jihad” is more dangerous than violent jihad
Lt. Gen. Ed Soyster: “Our leaders live in a world that no longer exists”
Frank Gaffney: “Muslim Brotherhood sedition should be prosecuted in U.S.”

Under the Fedora: Bright Sides, Romney and Blogcon

The are several bright sides to the Sox blowing a 9-0 lead to the Yankees on the 100th anniversary of Fenway:
- It provides conclusive proof that Baseball is the greatest sport in the world. It doesn’t matter how many runs you score, you’ve got to get those 27 outs.
- Terry Francona was part of the ceremonies and got a rousing cheer. With this collapse he could take some satisfaction. (He wouldn’t of course he has too much class for that.)
- It highlights the Obama booed at Fenway story, personally I think it is in bad taste to boo a sitting president but if he is drawing boos at Fenway than no democrat in Massachusetts is safe.
It would have been cool if Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) had been at Fenway, after reading his unwillingness to commit to voting Obama in November I wonder if he would have cheered or Booed?
——-
In my last under the Fedora Column I mentioned Don Surber who has predicted a 40 state win for Mitt Romney. I haven’t predicted anything that spectacular but it seems not a day goes by without more evidence supporting Surber’s prediction coming to light.
Now almost all of this evidence comes not from the brilliance of Romney but from the realization of the hollowness of Obama but I do want to say the Romney campaign has been a pleasant surprise.
Back in the start of the campaign I outlined the strategy Romney would use to win the nomination, he followed it to the letter, refused to panic over the occasional unenforced error (Etch a sketch anyone?) and has been relentless in sticking on message hitting the president on the economy every chance he gets.
And after a bunch of primary wins on Tuesday his speech in New Hampshire sounds like It’s been pulled from my blog or twitter feed:
…what do we have to show for three and a half years of President Obama?
Is it easier to make ends meet? Is it easier to sell your home or buy a new one? Have you saved what you needed for retirement? Are you making more in your job? Do you have a better chance to get a better job? Do you pay less at the pump?
If the answer were “yes” to those questions, then President Obama would be running for re-election based on his achievements…and rightly so. But because he has failed, he will run a campaign of diversions, distractions, and distortions. That kind of campaign may have worked at another place and in a different time. But not here and not now. It’s still about the economy …and we’re not stupid.
This has been a theme I’ve been punching forever, Romney has weaknesses, I’ve detailed them and argued them over and over for the past several months, but these weaknesses pale before Obama’s actual record that people have been living through for years and Chuck Todd not withstanding no amount of questions about Romney’s tax return is going to change it.
This type of thing is not a coincidence, it is a result of careful planning and strategic thinking. Mitt Romney has a history as a problem solver and it appears he has looked at both the primary election and the general election as problems to be solved.
I have to say I’ve been impressed. I’m also pleased that he hasn’t mistaken the media’s support for him in the primaries for actual MSM support vs Obama. You can’t win a battle if you refuse to acknowledge who your enemies are.
I just wish I was more sure about his core values…
——–
I haven’t written much about the President bites dog story but there are three things worth mentioning briefly
1. The MSM which jumped full tilt into the Romney dog story did an abrupt 180 as soon as the Obma angle came out. Jim Treacher of the daily caller…who is apparently the only person who actually read Dreams of my Father noted the change:
See, when Romney puts a dog on a car roof, it’s a job for Diane Sawyer. When Obama eats one*, it’s a goofy Jeanne Moos story. And isn’t it interesting that an incident from 1983 couldn’t be more current, but quoting one of Obama’s books is “dredging” it up? Guess it all depends on which party is embarrassed about it
2. Even days later the “Obama eats dog” story is still inspiring photoshops and laughter. Apparently like the Whip App in Big bang theory it still remains funny
http://youtu.be/hcWJ9wwNO4Y
I’m waiting for someone to do a You Tube parody: “I ate a dog and I like it.”
3. There is actually something significant concerning all this dog stuff. It should end the debate about Obama being brought up Muslim since dogs are considered unclean in Islam. The president’s admission that he was served and ate dog as a child would indicates that his step-father was either not Muslim or at least not a very good one. I’m really surprised nobody has brought up this point.

Of course while the president religion is not being discussed it’s practically the all Mormon review on MSNBC. The whole “Look it’s a Mormon” bit is already reaching the point of absurdity but I expect to become a lot worse as the left becomes increasingly desperate when November gets closer. After all it’s not like they are going to be talking the president’s record.
One Mormon who isn’t getting beat up by the press is Jon Huntsman, why because he threw a jab at the GOP comparing them to Red China after he was disinvited to a fundraising event. He was on Morning Joe commenting on the subject. Take a look at how the interview is framed
Unlike Mitt he still hasn’t figured out the whole MSM “useful idiot” meme
This Wednesday I made an appearance at the Five & Diner in Worcester Mass for my diner review segment, in addition to the reviews of the food there was a large collection of Hot Rods there including one that had special meaning to the fellow who restored it
It never ceases to amaze me how people can take disaster and grief and create something positive with it.

Insty was commenting on troubles at law schools and a quote he used hit me:
You’d think people would know about the seven fat years and seven lean years. . . .
Actually Glenn you wouldn’t, in our highly secularized society the wisdom of the Bible and the Torah are no longer common cultural knowledge. That’s how film makers get away with turning Noah into the world’s first environmentalist.

Blogcon Charlotte took place last weekend where over 150 bloggers from all across the nation gathered to learn techniques to increase traffic and to make the left howl, but the real advantage of an event like blogcon is the networking. You make connections all over the country with intelligent people. You might share a good idea and within minutes there are a dozen improvement s suggested that you never thought of.
There were many happy reunions.
Thoughtful debates
Meals shared
And of course several new entries
to my field guide to bloggers
Andrew Breitbart was scheduled as a keynote speaker he was remembered by a rather spectacular portrait made of his own words.
And a presentation of the first couple of acts of his movie Occupy Unmasked it drew a standing ovation.
There were even some faces from my neck of the wood there like Sean Bielat
I can’t wait to see one of these take place closer to my back yard so I can bring da Wife, I suspect she would have been interested in Right Online in Vegas but it’s the week of my youngest’s graduation party.

A final thought, I starting typing this column while sitting on the floor at the Jet Blue terminal in Charlotte NC, I continued it on a train taking me home from Boston and did a little more sitting on my bed at home, added to it at the Registry of Motor vehicles, tweaked it a Tang Dynasty while trying to sell an ad and finished it at my pal Dave’s house in the middle of a game of B & O.
All this is made possible by the invention of the internet and the laptop, people take this for granted every day but as someone who was born at a time when we had manual typewriters, slide rules and rotary phones were the rule and whose parents were born before the first commercial radio station was started. I’m still impressed.
Obama Goes Rogue, Again, Sidesteps the Law to Send Financial Aid to the Palestinian Authority
President Waives Restriction on Providing Funds to the Palestinian Authority
This nonsense has to stop!
Yesterday, President Barack Obama, waived the restriction in the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2012 that prohibits the United States from appropriating monies to the Palestinian Authority:
Presidential Memorandum — Waiver of Restriction on Providing Funds to the Palestinian Authority
MEMORANDUM FOR THE SECRETARY OF STATE
SUBJECT: Waiver of Restriction on Providing Funds to the Palestinian Authority
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 7040(b) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2012 (Division I, Public Law 112-74) (the “Act”), I hereby certify that it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of section 7040(a) of the Act, in order to provide funds appropriated to carry out Chapter 4 of Part II of the Foreign Assistance Act, as amended, to the Palestinian Authority.
You are directed to transmit this determination to the Congress, with a report pursuant to section 7040(d) of the Act, and to publish this determination in the Federal Register.
BARACK OBAMA
Just by using the phrase “national security interests” the president once again sidesteps congress and the will of the American People?
This has got to change… the process should be that the administration must show demonstrable cause to justify “national security interests.”
House Will Vote to Extend Student Loan Rates, Cut ObamaCare Slush Fund
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced the House will vote this Friday to extend the current interest rates on federal student loans, paid for by eliminating a slush fund in the president’s health care law — the law that is one of the reasons American small businesses today are not hiring more recent college graduates. ReasonTV: Arizona’s Immigration Law Heads to the Supreme Court
“As long as there is not a direct conflict, which the federal government did not do a very good job of pointing to today, the Arizona law gets to stand under the Preemption Doctrine,” says Reason’s Damon Root, who was at the Supreme Court during Wednesday’s oral arguments surrounding Arizona’s controversial immigration law. “The federal government is saying that ‘we have the power to stomp out all of the state experiments in immigration law enforcement.’”
Much like the Health Care arguments before the Court in March, Root does not see this as a good day for the Obama administration, in part due to Solicitor General Donald Verrilli’s poor performance. “At one point,” Root explains “Justice Sotomayor interrupted [Verrilli] and said “look I am terribly confused by what you are saying.”
Dick Lugar: “Clinging” to Power #INSen
A new Club for Growth Action ad running in Indiana.
Script for “Clinging” (TV :30)
WHAT’S HAPPENED TO DICK LUGAR?
HE WAS A RESPECTED NATIONAL LEADER; A STATESMAN.
THEN HE BECAME PART OF THE PROBLEM, JOINING THE LIBERALS IN VOTING FOR RECORD DEBT, BAILOUTS, AND TAX HIKES.
NOW HE’S CLINGING TO POWER, THROWING MUD AT CONSERVATIVE RICHARD MOURDOCK WITH ADS THAT HAVE BEEN CALLED MISLEADING, WEAK, AND DESPERATE.
DICK LUGAR: THIRTY-FIVE YEARS IN WASHINGTON IS ENOUGH.
Must-See TV — American Crossroads: “Cool”
After four years of a celebrity president, is your life any better?
Obama slow jams with Jimmy Fallon and calls Kanye West a “jackass.” He also owns an economy where 50% of recent college grads are unemployed or underemployed, and 85% have to move in with their parents. Has four years of a pop culture POTUS made anyone’s life any better?
Raising the Minimum Wage Hurts Low-Income Workers

Should we raise the minimum wage? The editors at Bloomberg think so. They maintain that low-wage jobs are expanding and that a minimum wage hike would boost the economy. Despite these notions, hiking the minimum wage remains a bad idea.
Bloomberg first laments that low-wage jobs are becoming the norm: “It’s also becoming clear that many Americans are being forced to take lower-paying jobs and that a low-wage bias is creeping into the economy.”
However, the percentage of minimum wage jobs has declined. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, just 5.2 percent of all hourly paid workers in the U.S. make the minimum wage, which is a smaller percentage than in 1979:
The proportion of hourly-paid workers earning the prevailing Federal minimum wage or less declined from 6.0 percent in 2010 to 5.2 percent in 2011. This remains well below the figure of 13.4 percent in 1979.
Even fewer adults work in minimum-wage jobs full time. Most minimum-wage workers are 25 or younger, and 69 percent work part time. The typical minimum-wage employee is a high school or college student with a part-time job, a major reason so many have attended—but not completed—college.
The primary value of these jobs is not the low wages they pay today. It is the on-the-job training they provide. Minimum-wage jobs teach inexperienced workers basic employability skills such as taking directions from a boss and working with co-workers. Acquiring these skills makes minimum-wage workers more productive and enables them to earn raises. Two-thirds of minimum-wage workers earn raises within a year. More
Preview of ‘The Hobbit’ in 48fps draws mixed reviews

“The Hobbit” is possibly one of the first movies to be filmed in 48fps, or double the framerate of tradition theatrical releases. According to a Facebook entry by its director Peter Jackson, the switch promises significantly higher clarity and smoothness, especially when it comes to fast movements and panning shots.
Some viewers, however, were unimpressed after a preview of the movie at the CinemaCon trade show in Las Vegas. A rival studio’s projectionist was even quoted by the Los Angeles Times, saying that the film looked like a made-for-TV movie and was too accurate and too clear.
