Freedomworks Endorses Bruce Poliquin for Maine U.S. Senate

Portland, ME – Maine State Treasurer Bruce Poliquin, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, was endorsed yesterday by FreedomWorks PAC, a national conservative organization.

“After one-on-one discussions with Bruce Poliquin, a detailed look at his record and, most importantly, listening to feedback from FreedomWorks PAC members and allies in Maine, FreedomWorks PAC believes that Poliquin is the strongest conservative candidate in the race,” wrote Max Pappas, Executive Director of FreedomWorks PAC.

“Bruce Poliquin is a solid fiscal conservative who has already accomplished amazing reform as Maine’s State Treasurer,” said Max Pappas, Executive Director of FreedomWorks PAC. “He immediately took on Maine’s debt-ridden pension system and managed to save taxpayers $1.7 billion, and he has been relentless in rooting out wasteful government spending.  I look forward to Bruce Poliquin doing the same to the federal budget.”

“I am honored to receive the support of such an important group in the national conservative and Tea Party movement,” said Poliquin.  “The folks at FreedomWorks are seeing what’s happening here in Maine.  The conservatives are coalescing around my candidacy, and are we are poised for a win in the June 12th primary with their support.”

Poliquin has received other notable endorsements from national and Maine conservative and Republican leaders, including U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT).

Poliquin set a record for the amount of money raised in the 2010 gubernatorial primary race.  He is again expected to have the funds needed to get out his message of fiscal reform during the short Republican primary race ending on June 12th.  As State Treasurer, Poliquin is widely viewed as the most viable conservative candidate for his track record with Governor Paul LePage of eliminating public pension debt, cutting government spending, and exposing waste.
