Berkley Says She Has No Worries About U.S. House Ethics Committee Review #NVSen
Embattled Congresswoman Shelly Berkley, 61, seems a bit delusional about the possibility of a full investigation by the U.S. House Ethics Committee… says she has no worries!?!
Defiantly makes one question her level of competence fro the job she’s seeking!
U.S. Rep. Shelley Berkley evaded questions about her current review and the possibility of a full investigation by the U.S. House Ethics Committee in an interview earlier this week. Allegations have been made that Berkley used her official position to aid her husband’s business.
Here’s what she had to say to me:
Question: You have yet to address the issue of the (U.S.) House Ethics Committee review and possibility of an investigation during the campaign. It seems like it is the 800-pound gorilla in the room. Do you have any thoughts on that?
Berkley: “Actually I have addressed it on a number of occasions: That this election is going to be about one thing and that is who has the right priorities for Nevada’s middle income families. As you know, I am fighting to create good-paying middle-class jobs.”
Question: An ethics review by a major candidate: Don’t you think some constituents might be concerned about that?
Berkley: No. In the end, this election is going to be about one thing and that is who will best represent the people of the state of Nevada in our nation’s capital. Who has the right priorities for Nevada’s middle class families. There will be a clear choice and there is a clear choice between me and my opponent.”
Question: Yeah but… respectfully congresswoman, what if this review is taken to a full investigation? And that investigation is taking place during the election season before November. It would seem like it would be like the sword of Damocles hanging over your head?
Berkley: Well I think I’ll let you play pundit on the ethics review, what impact it will have. But while you are playing pundit, I will be speaking to the people of the state of Nevada in north and south, east and west, talking about the issue that are important to them. And for women, there is a lot at stake in this election.”
Meanwhile, Hagar noted that since announcing her candidacy Berkley has refused to appear on Nevada Newsmakers or Face to Face with Jon Ralston. It has been noted that Berkley has not been on Sam Shad’s Nevada Newsmakers since February of 2011. She has not appeared on Face To Face with Jon Ralston in 424 days.
