PUBLIC NOTICE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION FUND LAUNCHES $1.2 MILLION
CAMPAIGN URGING WASHINGTON TO FOCUS ON DEBT REDUCTION
Arlington, Va. – Public Notice Research and Education Fund (PNREF) today announced a national advertising campaign urging Washington to focus on debt reduction as the national debt approaches $16 trillion. The more than $1.2 million campaign will run from this weekend through Monday, Aug. 6, and will include national cable as well as online advertising.
The ad, titled “Washington is Still Digging,” will air on A&E, Bloomberg, CNN, Discovery, Fox News, History, Lifetime, MSNBC and USA.
Gretchen Hamel, president of Public Notice Research and Education Fund, issued the following statement regarding the campaign:
“The national debt has become a national disgrace made even worse by Washington’s steadfast refusal to agree to a long-term strategy for fiscal responsibility. While our elected officials are content to play political games, the weight of the debt on our economy grows heavier. Washington’s solution to every problem from health care to a sluggish economy involves more spending, but that is unsustainable and clearly isn’t working.
“The purpose of highlighting this issue is to ensure that the enormity of the debt isn’t lost among the many small squabbles that occupy so much of the time of our elected officials. According to a recent poll conducted by Public Notice, almost 80 percent of Americans believe it is extremely or very important for Washington to tackle the national debt. Americans want Washington to make the tough choices, but Washington doesn’t. It’s time to stop digging and start being responsible.”
