(Las Vegas, NV) – At an endorsement event yesterday with the Filipino American Families of America in Politics, members of the Filipino community rallied their support for Dean Heller.  Today Dean Heller offered this statement of appreciation, particularly for the World War Two veterans, their families and their representatives who attended yesterday’s event:

“I’m honored by the support from the Filipino American Families of America in Politics and of members of the Filipino-American community.  These men and women are working hard to create a better life for their children and grandchildren, and I am committed to helping them achieve that goal.  I was also humbled by the show of support from World War Two veterans who fought bravely for this country and yet were denied the benefits they earned and deserve. I look forward to working with them and their families to ensure they are properly thanked for their sacrifices,” said Dean Heller.

Pvt. Romeo Barreras and Brig. General Cesar Poblete attended the event. These two men are members of the “Mighty Five,” a group of Filipino American World War Two veterans living in Las Vegas. A third veteran, 2nd Lt. Silverio Cuaresma Sr. wrote a letter of appreciation to Senator Heller, which was read by his son. The Mighty Five also wrote a collective letter of endorsement for Senator Heller.

At the event, which was attended by approximately 50 members of the Filipino American community, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Dean Heller was presented with a plaque for his principled commitment to creating a better future for the next generation:
