Breitbart: Enough Republicans Willing To Unseat Speaker Boehner

Boehner-McCarthy-Cantor

From Breitbart:

American Majority Action spokesman Ron Meyer told Breitbart News late Tuesday that enough House Republicans have banded together in an effort to unseat House Speaker John Boehner from his position–they just need a leader to take up the mantle.

“At least 20 House Republican members have gotten together, discussed this and want to unseat Speaker Boehner–and are willing to do what it takes to do it,” Meyer said. “That’s more than enough to get the job done, but the one problem these guys face is they need a leader to coalesce behind.”

Meyer said the conservatives have considered House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) to take the helm after Boehner is knocked out. His opposition from the right to the Senate fiscal cliff deal that Vice President Joe Biden cut with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a sign Cantor may try for the job.

Statement from ACU Chairman Al Cardenas on the Latest Fiscal Cliff Proposal

Statement from ACU Chairman Al Cardenas:

“The American Conservative Union simply cannot accept or support the Senate Bill as passed this morning, which does nothing to reign in out of control spending. Given the dire financial situation our country faces, ACU would have supported, albeit reluctantly, the Bush era tax cut extensions for those with incomes under $400,000 to $450,000 and supported the Death Tax provisions that maintain the current exemptions and are indexed for inflation.  This is vital for our family farms and family-owned businesses. Our nation has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Rather than do the essential work of cutting spending, the current bill actually adds even more deficit spending. Congress needs to make the hard decisions now for the future of our children and grandchildren. Therefore, ACU recommends that the House take the non-tax provisions out of the Senate Bill and pass it. They should then go back to the drawing board and put together a comprehensive plan to responsibly deal with unemployment insurance, the Farm Bill, special interest tax subsidies and replacing the sequester with targeted spending cuts in a way that would be in line with our conservative values.”

ForAmerica Chairman Bozell on Senate Fiscal Cliff Bill: “It’s a Surrender.”

“Conservatives Should Want Nothing To Do With Any Republicans…If They Support This Monstrosity”

ALEXANDRIA, VA –Today, ForAmerica Chairman Brent Bozell released a statement regarding the Senate-passed bill resulting from negotiations over the fiscal cliff:

“The bill passed by the Senate last night is not a ‘deal,’ it’s a surrender.  The problem our nation faces is over-spending, and spending is ignored: the perfect Washington, DC ‘solution.’  And not only does this bill fail to make meaningful spending cuts, it actually spends another $4 trillion we don’t have!  If the House passes this bill, the GOP loses its soul and co-owns the resulting fiscal disaster with President Obama. Conservatives should want nothing to do with any Republicans, no matter how ‘conservative’ they tell us they are, if they support this monstrosity.”

Pravda: Americans Never Give Up Your Guns

guns-kill-people

You know we are living in bizarre times when Pravda is telling us: Americans never give up your guns

These days, there are few few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bare arms and use deadly force to defend one’s self and possessions.

This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns were everywhere, common items. People carried them concealed, they carried them holstered. Fighting knives were a prominent part of many traditional attires and those little tubes criss crossing on the costumes of Cossacks and various Caucasian peoples? Well those are bullet holders for rifles.

Various armies, such as the Poles, during the Смута (Times of Troubles), or Napoleon, or the Germans even as the Tsarist state collapsed under the weight of WW1 and Wall Street monies, found that holding Russian lands was much much harder than taking them and taking was no easy walk in the park but a blood bath all its own. In holding, one faced an extremely well armed and aggressive population Hell bent on exterminating or driving out the aggressor.

This well armed population was what allowed the various White factions to rise up, no matter how disorganized politically and militarily they were in 1918 and wage a savage civil war against the Reds. It should be noted that many of these armies were armed peasants, villagers, farmers and merchants, protecting their own. If it had not been for Washington’s clandestine support of and for the Reds, history would have gone quite differently.

Moscow fell, for example, not from a lack of weapons to defend it, but from the lieing guile of the Reds. Ten thousand Reds took Moscow and were opposed only by some few hundreds of officer cadets and their instructors. Even then the battle was fierce and losses high. However, in the city alone, at that time, lived over 30,000 military officers (both active and retired), all with their own issued weapons and ammunition, plus tens of thousands of other citizens who were armed. The Soviets promised to leave them all alone if they did not intervene. They did not and for that were asked afterwards to come register themselves and their weapons: where they were promptly shot.

Of course being savages, murderers and liars does not mean being stupid and the Reds learned from their Civil War experience. One of the first things they did was to disarm the population. From that point, mass repression, mass arrests, mass deportations, mass murder, mass starvation were all a safe game for the powers that were. The worst they had to fear was a pitchfork in the guts or a knife in the back or the occasional hunting rifle. Not much for soldiers.

To this day, with the Soviet Union now dead 21 years, with a whole generation born and raised to adulthood without the SU, we are still denied our basic and traditional rights to self defense. Why? We are told that everyone would just start shooting each other and crime would be everywhere….but criminals are still armed and still murdering and to often, especially in the far regions, those criminals wear the uniforms of the police. The fact that everyone would start shooting is also laughable when statistics are examined.

Heritage: Tax Hikes to Start the New Year

taxmageddon-tax-increase

Originally posted at The Foundry by Amy Payne

While you were sleeping—or ringing in 2013—the Senate voted to raise taxes.

After missing the midnight deadline, Congress and the President have technically sent the nation over the fiscal cliff, meaning higher tax rates are already in effect for all income tax brackets. But the Senate’s deal, brokered by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) and Vice President Joe Biden, would target the tax increases on those making more than $250,000.

The Senate voted 89-8 to limit deductions for taxpayers making more than $250,000, which would raise their taxes, and to hike tax rates for those making more than $400,000.

As Heritage has pointed out, trying to tax the top income brackets to close the deficit is impossible. To overcome the massive federal deficit, top earners would have to be taxed at more than 100 percent. And J.D. Foster, Heritage’s Norman B. Ture Senior Fellow in the Economics of Fiscal Policy, reminds us that President Obama has already raised taxes on “the wealthy”:

Never mind that Obama already raised taxes on upper-income taxpayers through the 3.8 percent Medicare surtax imposed under Obamacare. Never mind that tax rate hikes would weaken an economy stumbling so badly the Federal Reserve doubled its risky efforts to keep the economy from recession. Never mind Obama’s approach would likely put the kibosh on any hopes for tax reform. Never mind the resulting revenues would be a small drop in a very big bucket compared to projected budget deficits. Never mind that the only justification for higher taxes is spite and envy to be exercised through the extortive power of the federal government.

Some of the key points in the Senate deal, which could go to the House as early as today:

  • Raises taxes on incomes over $400,000 for individuals and $450,000 for households
  • Raises taxes on investment income for those taxpayers as well
  • Limits tax deductions for incomes over $250,000—raising their taxes, too
  • Increases the death tax rate for estates over $5 million
  • Extends long-term unemployment benefits for one year
  • Postpones sequestration’s automatic spending cuts (including those to defense) by two months

Meanwhile, the United States also ran up against the debt ceiling yesterday. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said the Treasury would do some short-term creative accounting to make sure the country doesn’t default on its loans, which will buy two months before lawmakers have to fight it out again over increasing the debt limit.

The deal does nothing to address the reasons that the U.S. budget is out of control. Its focus on tax hikes rather than spending cuts is completely the opposite of what the country needs. As Heritage’s Romina Boccia explains:

Federal spending on entitlements and interest on the debt drives the federal budget crisis. Together the three major entitlements of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid (including Obamacare), as well as net interest, make up more than half of all spending in the federal budget today. Their share of the budget will grow to over two-thirds of all spending in 10 years. By 2025, the major entitlement programs and net interest together will eat up all tax revenues collected in that year.

Hiking taxes simply isn’t a solution. Until Congress and the President pursue serious spending cuts, the country and the budget will keep chugging in the same direction. And that’s certainly no cause for celebration.

89-8: New Year, Same Old Congress…

Gov't Spending stormy capitol

This Morning the Senate passed a compromise bill two hours after the deadline for the “fiscal cliff” bipartisan bill was to take effect.

The vote was 89-8 an even wider margin bipartisan margin than the bill it replaces. Only 3 Democrats and 5 Republicans voted against the measure that will now go to the house.

With such an overwhelming imprimatur from both sides of the aisle in the Senate, it is impossible that this bill will fail in the house. Every member of the tea party caucus may oppose it, speak against it, and can argue the case for responsibility to no avail.  There will be plenty of votes on both sides of the aisle to pass this deal.

That we are passing 100+ page bills that nobody has read at 2 AM on New Years day is bad.

That we are raising more taxes on small business at a $41 in tax increases not counting all the Obamacare taxes that are now kicking in, for each dollar of spending cuts, is worse.

But the thing that really bothers me beyond both is this:  We have problems, problems that requires courage to solve. It took a lot of pain and effort to achieve what had previously been done and as Veronique de Rugy tells us it wasn’t much:

The alleged brutality of the cuts is one of the biggest myth of 2012. For the most part, the sequestration “cuts” aren’t really cuts at all. According to the Congressional Budget Office, discretionary spending would grow from $1.047 trillion to $1.234 trillion without sequestration. With the sequestration cuts in place, it will instead grow from $1.047 to $1.147 trillion. Medicare, which also faces cuts in the sequestration process, follows a similar trend. That means that going through with sequestration is just the beginning. It won’t make a dent in the size of our debt, and more cuts will be needed in the future.Yet both sides oppose fulfilling the deal they agreed upon.

and now even that has been undone.

Without controlling spending we are heading toward disaster. As de Rugy points out above, the sequestration cuts….were not cuts and a whole lot more was needed beyond sequestration to get us out of the hole we’re in and now we aren’t event going to do that.

Amazingly despite the date this was done by a cold sober senate and will be passed by a cold sober house to the cheers of the media that will celebrate the cowardice of a nation and its elected leaders.

Marco Rubio, one of the few votes against said it well:

“I ran, just two years ago, on the idea that I wanted to be part of solving the long-term problems this country faces. Time and again, we’re given choices here that don’t involve that.”

“The real fiscal cliff is still there,” he said. “We’ll be back here again. In March, we’ll have a showdown like this all over again.”

And what will happen then?  Will the GOP grow a spine?  Will the democrats learn to count?  I wouldn’t bet on it.  If we can’t make the tough calls when left & right have the fear of God, or at least the voters in them how will we do it otherwise?

As I’ve said many times we always get the government we deserve, but I really thought we deserved better.
