Once again we see the strange logic (or lack thereof) of Liberal Progressives. Lib Progs are leading the charge for Federally mandated higher minimum wage even while the more informed among them recognize that a higher minimum wage will cut already scarce jobs.
Here we see a “Progressive” business owner who gladly supports the minimum wage but at the same time supports eliminating many of his minimum wage workforce with computerized robots that will replace minimum wage human workers in most food service restaurants.
My question: Will Shaich pay $10.10 an hour to the kiosks he plans to install in every Panera in America? Businessweek tells that at the coffee and sandwich shop, you’ll soon be ordering through a touch-screen kiosk. Shaich insists this won’t lead to downsizing: Panera will have fewer cashiers but more employees running the food to customers’ tables. We’ll see.
P.S. One angle Shaich may not be considering: When the computers rise up against the capitalists, then we’re really in trouble.
