A friend of mine asked for help in a political media interpretation class they were taking. I won't bore you with the details but I only bring it up because this is how I came upon this article. This is the sort of hatchet job one would expect to find in the New York Times or Boston Globe however instead I found it in a local Midland, Texas newspaper. It is the exact sort corrupt political writing that has made Conservatives everywhere distrustful of the media. It starts like this...

One of my favorite movies is A Bug's Life. There is a scene that I will never forget. Two grasshoppers, Molt and Hopper, are discussing a previous meeting they had with the ants. Hopper had taken it easy on an ant. Molt was furious while the Hopper couldn't see what the big deal was. Molt throws a seed at Hopper and then a second seed and then a third, and finally, he pulls the lever and and all the seeds come flowing down upon Hopper until he is overwhelmed by the seeds.

That is one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies, The Usual Suspects. I believe in God as well, and the only person that politically scares me more than Hillary Clinton is George Soros. Once anyone studies the way he operates they should all realize that he does to politics what Soze did to crime. I have been disappointed if not surprised by the media coverage of the sub prime crisis. It has been filled with political correctness, condescending nebulus terms that even mortgage brokers don't understand, and very short on any analysis that let's the people know what happened. My business, mortgages, is frankly hard enough without government interference. Between a plethora of rules and regulations created by the banks themselves and irrational borrowers, sellers, realtors and attorneys, I sometimes wonder how loans get closed at all, EVER. That's why what happened to my protege and his dealings with the Illinois high cost law was simply beyond the pale.

Sometimes I think that those that occupy the left of our political spectrum are even tougher on border enforcement than we on the right. We are willing to try something even if it only reduces illegal immigration by 50, 60, or even 90%, whereas the left will only implement something if it stops it cold. That is the only way to explain the left's refusal to get behind the idea of a border fence.

Most have heard Democratic Governor Napolitano's response to the border fence, ""You show me a 50-foot wall and I'll show you a 51-foot ladder at the border. That's the way the border works". My response is that someone is going to look awfully suspicious walking around the Mexican desert holding onto a fifty one foot ladder. There is no full proof method to stopping illegal immigration entirely, and the governor is right. The fence will not deter someone if they are motivated enough. The reality is nothing will.

We could put together a human wall that stretches the entire border with Mexico and someone would bring a tank and run through our human wall. Nothing is full proof. That is the reality with illegal immigration and with homeland security for that matter.
