Crude oil closed on the New York Mercantile Exchange a little over $124.00, down roughly 16% from its high on July 11. A number of factors are contributing to the decline, including the prospect of increased government oversight and increasing evidence that high prices are changing consumer behavior. It is also possible that speculators who entered the market late are getting nervous about the runup in prices and are closing out positions and taking profits.

Well, the Great Debates are over. What have we learned?

It may be news to Michelle Obama, and it almost certainly will be news to her pastor, that there is PLENTY that Americans can be proud of, and that pride is the heritage of all our citizens regardless of race, creed, color or national origin.

Love 'em or loathe 'em, the advent of the Clintons in 1992 was a cultural phenomenon. The first Boomer president and his go-getting, career-oriented wife signaled generational change as profound as when JFK wowed the world with his inaugural address in 1961.

First, let me be clear where I'm coming from. I am pro-life. I understand and respect why people find it hard to support the Rudy Giuliani candidacy because of the pro-choice positions of his past (although they have moderated). The other stuff- the marriages, the drag, the tolerant attitude towards gays, etc- is basically irrelevant.

For me, 9/11 changed everything. I wouldn't have DREAMED of becoming a blogger on sites like RS, TMR and HinzSight had the illusory peace of the Clinton years prevailed.
