I guess Big Gator5 gets his way. Seems that if you are attacked incessantly you are not allowed to defend yourself over there. I hope they reinstate me but if not...oh well.

especially because Gator made such an issue about it. It's never been about being divisive and you can check my posting history and see that I've been at least as thoughtful and forward thinking as anyone on the site. I'm not real keen on sticking in an echo chamber anyway!
I'm mad at myself for allowing Gator to bait me that way. I kept saying I was out of it but to quote the God Father..."Every time I think I'm out, THEY DRAW ME RIGHT BACK IN!" and I let him get his way...I'd like to know if he was banned as well?

I've gone out of my way to stay away from McCain and concentrate on Congressional Republicans. You can read my latest one here. It's been bumped to the front page. I did one on the Bible's symbolism of the Body of Christ and plugged in the different legs of the Republican Party. My basic thesis in it is that each faction of the Republican Party is interdependent and will die without the other parts. I think the title was something like, The body of Conservatism and I think it's posted here as well.
So I'm much deeper than many think and I've unfairly gotten tarred as a McCain hater and because I supported Huckabee pretty stridently early on. I also stepped on a lot of the moderators toes because I didn't know who they were...If I could make a suggestion over there I'd suggest they add a "mod" tag to their screen name so someone knows who they are opening up on.

Agreed - different sites, different (and sometimes VASTLY different) purposes. It's why I simply stay away from RS posting/commenting wholesale unless I have something very specific (like the Ogonowski story from last night) that I think might be of interest to the RS community. But then it's back to Radio Silence for docj @ RS.

RS is hard to quit, for sure. I've found myself posting there a couple of times despite swearing never to again.
It has become a bit of an echo chamber, but they are simply sticking to the mission statement of being a Republican site. I don't blame them, and I just have a lot less in common with the site these days. I made my point, they made theirs, and I had to remember I was a guest that might have overstayed.
It was definitely fun, though. Reading a little of the thread it seems as though gator should have gotten a little time off too, though.
I keep earing it's a "Republican Site" as if I'm not a @$%&ing Republican. As if the Moderators over there have a monopoly on what a Republican is! Frankly I'm sick of it!
I'm every bit as Republican as anyone there I just have a different view of what the Party needs to do and where it needs to go doesn't make me any less of one!

My point is that if ace's sig is irritating to McCain supporters, and I have no doubt that it is, then I wanted to point out that the tone of many pro McCain posters (PRIOR to the signature issue) to those that had genuine problems with McCain for very good, well documented, decade old reasons is also very, very, very annoying, and out of bounds most of the time. As a matter of fact, I would put the gator person in that category, based on what I have read of his posts. It could very well be a chicken and egg argument at this point, but I left before the signature thing became a really hot issue.
The opinion of many people at RS, including some of the mods, was that the only reason we had problems with McCain was that our guy had not won the primary and we were just sore losers. Nothing could be further from the truth, at least as far as I am concerned.
Be that as it may, and as I posted at RS, the nominee has been decided, and that is that. RS started as a Republican site, and that is also that. After that point, I made the decision to leave the Republican Party after a few decades, and to do my very best to leave RS (it is hard to quit ya'll, though). I had, and have, no desire to continue the debate regarding McCain on RS (or really even here, for that matter), even though a lot of the things I read make me mad. I could very well have been baited into a bad position had I continued on.
Anyway, that's the way I see it.

crap it lasted all of like a week and people started going back to Redstate and I would log on and see no one had anything to say for hours....believe me I was checking at work to. About two years ago both sites were born. Gordon Taylor and I started The Hinzsight Report and Steve Foley started The Minority Report. Steve and a handful of rugged individuals that we chose, could post on THSR, and Gordo and I could post on TMR. We had similar goals.
I saw THSR as a Citizen Journalism site -- that is more of a news site, reporting the kind of stories that the MSM refuse to cover.. Ideally, while we were mostly bloggers, the idea was to blend news with conservative opinion .
Steve wanted a site to express conservative ideas and principles to build back to a conservative Majority.
From the very beginning, THSR and TMR have been "sister" sites, and in fact, we have been guests on Steve's server right from the start.
Over the last couple of years we have talked from time to time about combining our efforts. We at THSR went through a dormant stage about a year ago, for a couple of months, and it cost us some of our readership and some of our writers.
When we got hacked TWICE a few weeks ago by Palestians, we got up again and Steve and I had a LONG talk -- and we decided to combine the two sites. Anyone trying to access the OLD THSR site gets directed here, and all new content is here. The old archives have not yet been moved over, but eventually they will be.
We think this is a good fit for all of us.
I was always dissapointed to not be able to get a conversation going...I gues BG% serves a purpose...like a mouse for the cat to play with before the Cat ceushes it's skull...LOL
