Breaking news-Bristol Palin Really IS Pregnant

Promoted - because even if it shouldn't be, it's still a big deal. - DocJ

Oh my good golly Miss Molly! This election just got even more interesting.
Talk about the face of Pro-Life.
Exhibit A-The Palin family

AP and Fox News is reporting that the 17 year old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant.

Here is a statement from Gov. Palin-

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support," the Palins said.

Wow, just WOW!

I can tell you that my response to my child would be much the same as their's was. Too bad some see a baby as a punishment not necessary of keeping around.

How will this play in the election? Only time will tell.

Oh-and McCain knew this and chose her anyway.

Call me silly, but I think Barack is going to have a hard time campaigning on this subject.

...that conservatives are hypocrites because we preach abstinence. We all know that they shouldn't be able to make this argument, considering their record as the Family Values lobby, but still, they own the MSM. I hope they don't find a way to screw over McCain's campaign with this.

IF it is true that he KNEW about pregnancy and did not shy away for a "safe" pick -- that shows cajones on his part

Gutsy.

As for the circumstances - well, they certainly seem like a grounded family and the young lady showed more courage and maturity than your average middle-aged liberal by her decision to keep the baby and marry the father (dare I sound old fashioned and say "They chose to do the right thing.). Hopes and prayers for all of them that it works out, of course.

Obama has already threatened to "fire" anyone who says bad things
of Palin's children..good for Mccain for still selecting her because once again it proves he is the MAVERICK...Obama might have his foot in his mouth..."you don't want your daughter PUNISHED with a BABY.....

it proves that he can learn as a politician. He immediately got out in front of this story and said all the right things. " I have said it before, I believe people's families are off limits."

The Left-o-sphere will be out there attacking Gov Palin -- and every "Journalism" in this country is "concerned" about how this will affect the campaign.

The smears will be very public -- but not from the campaign -- and I am proud of the good senator for that.

a few things have come into my mind.

First of all, this doesn't dampen the excitement I feel about Sarah Palin on the ticket one bit. I still think she is going to be an asset.

Teenage pregnancy is rampant in our country. It comes at all levels of the economic ladder and affects all races, some more than others. I think this is not a bad conversation for us to have. We, as conservatives that value life, can use this as a teaching moment to encourage families to love and support their daughters and sons through these situations. If more would give the unconditional love that the Palins are exhibiting with Bristol, we could put Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers out of business. That would not be a bad thing.

I think this is also a teachable moment for those of us that are Evangelical Christians. This gives us the opportunity to show those that think otherwise that we love sinners, just not the sin. I have no doubt in my mind that Todd and Sarah Palin were less than thrilled when their first born daughter told them they were going to be grandparents this winter. I'm guessing they had some tough discussions with her. I'm also guessing they ended those discussions with a hug and a declaration of love and support. As we all should.

I, myself, am a product of teenage "luv". I have many friends that were as well. I also have friends that had children as teenagers. It is only by luck that I was not one as well. If my mother had a dollar for everytime she had told me to "wait until I was married" she would have died a wealthy woman. She also taught me about birth control. Like a typical teen, I ignored it all. I was in "luv" of course. Again, I just got lucky. But I have no doubt that if my luck had run out and I had concieved a baby with that fine, virile young man I "luved", she would have moved heaven and earth for me and that baby. She nor I would have ever entertained anything other than life.

My oldest is 13. She lives in a world that is divided between black and white. Her moral line is bright and shiny. My next daughter is 11. She lives in shades of gray and sees angles that others never would. I am a fool to think that both of them will completely follow my advice. Despite being really good kids, I know they are going to screw up. I can only hope that when they do I can follow the example of Todd and Sarah Palin and just love them through it.

even more than yesterday.

Kudos to Bill Bennett for calling out that trashy Kiera-whatever-her-name-is they have dispatched to Alaska to dig up dirt.

just tried to make the case that Sarah Palin was WRONG to put her daughter in the spotlight by accepting the VP slot while knowing her daughter was pregnant. GIMME A BREAK!

be big, but boy is it.

I hope after the convention they take Bristol home and give her some privacy.
And I really feel for the fool that tries to ask Todd Palin about this. 'Cuz you know there will be one out there.

... with hunting weapons, I strongly suggest any MSM-types who want to poke around in this business tread very, very lightly.

'Cause you know, once Sarah Palin shoots something, it tends to, well, stay shot. If you know what I mean.
