So, in typical liberal harpy fashion Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart are pissed because the McCain/Palin camp used Barracuda.
"Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart have informed the McCain/Palin Campaign that Universal Music Publishing and Sony BMG have sent a cease-and-desist notice to not use one of Heart's classic songs 'Barracuda,' as the congratulatory theme for Sarah Palin. The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission. We have asked the Republican campaign not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored."

I don't know about y'all, but I get so tired of this drama. You'd think Heart would take the same tasteful position that Brooks and Dunn had last week, but no. Despite causing Barracuda downloads to skyrocket this past week, they insist on whining.
If the GOP/RNC was smart, they'd blow off liberal Hollywood and head to Nashville for inspiring music. We've all heard John Rich's Raisin' McCain and it is a super fun song. There are more out there just like him.
Gretchen Wilson has a couple of songs that come to mind. Josh Painter at Redstate (I'd link it if I hadn't just gotten a 500 error, grrrrr) suggested Redneck Girl. My top one would be this one though-
POLITICALLY UNCORRECT
I'm for the low man on the totem pole
And I'm for the underdog God bless his soul
And I'm for the guys still pulling third shift
And the single mom raisin' her kids
I'm for the preachers who stay on their knees
And I'm for the sinner who finally believes
And I'm for the farmer with dirt on his hands
And the soldiers who fight for this land
Chorus:
And I'm for the Bible and I'm for the flag
And I'm for the working man, me and ol' hag
I'm just one of many
Who can't get no respect
Politically uncorrect
(Merle Haggard)
I guess my opinion is all out of style
(Gretchen Wilson)
Aw, but don't get me started cause I can get riled
And I'll make a fight for the forefathers plan
(Merle Haggard)
And the world already knows where I stand
Repeat Chorus
(Merle Haggard)
Nothing wrong with the Bible, nothing wrong with the flag
(Gretchen Wilson)
Nothing wrong with the working man me & ol' hag
We're just some of many who can't get no respect
(Merle Haggard)
None
(Gretchen Wilson)
Politically uncorrect
(Merle Haggard)
Politically uncorrect
Lastly, Gretchen's my #1 Wilson now because.....can you guess...
SHE WAS A FREDHEAD FIRST!!!!!!!!!!

as you pointed out, downloads of their song, which had been until now, all but forgotten, skyrocketed -- which SHOULD have meant in increase of revenue for them.
BUT, as Sen Obama pointed out when confronted with the realities of economics, "It's not about revenue, it's about fairness."
Well, in all fairness, we should all take our revenue elsewhere.
