Recent high profile terrorist attacks in Yemen and Pakistan along with increased terrorist chatter from intelligence intercepts to their terror cells around the world, have US Intelligence experts concerned that another major al-Qaeda attack might be planned just before the Presidential election.
If you remember, a major attack in Madrid, Spain in May of 2004 was credited with swinging their election against the government that had been supporting the War on Terror.
If al-Qaeda does expect to intervene in the Presidential election in November by attacking the US, it demonstrates once again just how little the Islamists fail to understand America and Americans. This is not Spain! The American people will not be cowed into obedience to the Radical Jihadists by attacking this country or its people elsewhere in the world.
The mettle of each of the last two presidents has been tested by the terrorists, shortly after taking office. The response of President Clinton to the first World Trade Center bombing was as expected. The response of President Bush to 9-11 was not. It was, in fact, a terrible shock to the terrorist organizations -- a shock from which they have yet to recover.
If the terrorists are indeed planning an October surprise to influence the American Presidential election, they might well be the ones surprised with the results.
