What’s Good For General Motors…..

Dear President Bush,

As your 2nd term draws to a close and you leave the acrimonious atmosphere of Washington, DC, I wondered if you could please take on one more task?

It seems to me that “me” is a vital part of the US economy. I spend money, eat junk-food, pay taxes and require the services of several of the US of A’s outstanding medical professionals. That makes little, old over-worked and under-appreciated moi an engine of economic growth.

All of this economic upheaval and credit-crunchiness may cause me to spend less money and rev that economic engine several thousand rpms more slowly than I otherwise intended. Unless; of course, I could have a bailout.

GM needs money, Detroit needs money, American Express needs money. Who better to provide them that money than ME INC? Nobody – at least according to America’s most recent Republican President, Ronald Wilson Reagan.

So, in conclusion, Mr. President, I offer you the following. What’s good for General Motors is good for America. America is made great by individuals just like me. Therefore, what’s good for GM is good for me. I want my $25bn.

That is all. Thank you and God bless.

V/R, KOTM.

I have to wonder what the world would be like if the unions were just gone. I think we fail to acknowledge the hand they've had in the impending failure of the auto industry. And how much of this bailout (if it goes through) will be used, directly or indirectly, to prop-up the unions.

No doubt. The UAW has done its share to wreck GM, Ford and Chrysler.
