A Conservative Call to Arms

Tagged:
With Senator Barack Obama all but wrapping up his nomination, it is time for conservatives to prepare for the battle ahead. I will not lie: We face an uphill battle in this election. Our current President faces all time historic lows in approval ratings. The Republican name is sour. We are in the middle of an increasingly unpopular war. But despite all of this, I am optimistic for the future of the Republican Party and the upcoming elections. Why?

Read on.

Because I am not a quitter. I understand that the only way to get to the end is to embark on a journey. We are on a journey right now. We are nowhere near the end. The general election isn’t until November. We have six long months to take the fight to Senator Obama and his über-liberal policies.

How Do We Get There?

Let me make a few suggestions for those of you out there who are crying that the sky is falling:

1. If you have never read this book, please pick it up and do it soon. It is called The Magic of Thinking Big. Start thinking big. One of the key lessons that you will learn in that book is that if you believe something to be true, you will make it happen. If you believe that all is lost, then all will be lost for you. If you believe that there is hope, then you will fight.

2. Engage everyone that you know in a debate about the future of our nation. We must get back to the dirty work of politics. That is changing the hearts and minds of the electorate one person at a time. Convince them that Conservatism works. Convince them that Senator McCain should be the next President of the United States. Convince them to support your local Republicans for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor, State Senate, State House of Representatives, Mayor, City Council, dog catcher and on down the list. We must take the fight to every level of politics.

3. Donate $$$ (I know, some of us are broke, but every bit goes a long way.) Donate to Senator McCain’s campaign. Donate to Conservative PACs. Donate to Senate campaigns. Donate to House campaigns. Donate to gubernatorial campaigns. Donate to anything that you can think of that will advance our cause. It is going to take a lot of money in all aspects of this race to compete with the billions of dollars that the left has been able to raise.

4. Do not disengage yourself from the process because it seems “hard”. Life is hard. Did you commit suicide today? No. Then don’t commit political suicide.

5. Research your local races. We are drastically short on information in many areas of the country. Don’t worry if your blog doesn’t get a lot of comments. I’ve learned that comments are a poor reflection on the worth of a blog. It is usually more reflective of the controversy that the post brings.

6. Now is the time to stop eating our own. End the division. There are bigger fish to fry my friends. They have a vision of America that we do not want. We must not let inter-party bickering get in the way of our defense of our vision.

Our Choices

Fight.

Or Give Up

I’m choosing to fight. Who’s with me?
