but as the pride of Framingham, Massachusetts put it in song, My Give A Damn's Busted. Besides, if you end earmarks what is Maverick going to use to continue his marginally earned fiscal conservative cred?
Ending the practice of "Earmarks" ain't even gonna slow our steady march to a $10T federal government one iota. Just take Maverick as an example - the guy sees a 6-figure earmark for a band-shell in some hick's district as a crime against humanity but signs-off on a multi-trillion dollar ponzi-scheme in the name of "combating global warming" without batting an eye.
Don't get me wrong, I think earmarking is bad practice - it just seems far too much like that proverbial floating shiny object we're all focussed on while someone is picking our pocket. And I am very skeptical that the GOP managing to pass "earmark reform" is remotely enough to even start to restore the brand.
Just saying.
