It may be news to Michelle Obama, and it almost certainly will be news to her pastor, that there is PLENTY that Americans can be proud of, and that pride is the heritage of all our citizens regardless of race, creed, color or national origin.

Where to start? Well, since pictures speak louder than words (are you listening Rev. Wright?), with pictures. And since I love airplanes, with airplanes! More specifically, the great Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949, which kept West Berlin from sliding into the grip of Soviet tyranny. A stunning exercise of logistics, the airlift kept the inhabitants from starving and freezing in the face of a cruel Soviet blockade. President Truman's resolute decision avoided war and allowed the western zone to evolve into one of the starkest symbols of the contrast between freedom and communism.
