Former Obama opponent now suing to prove President-elect's citizenship

President-elect Barack Obama and former Ambassador Alan Keyes have history. When Sen Ryan of Illinois was forced to step down from his re-election bid due to sensational revelations about his sex life, Ambassador Keyes was recruited by the Illinois Republican Party to try to save that seat from Barack Obama. His bid failed.

Keyes, a Republican Presidential Candidate in both 2000 and 2008, eventually ran as the American Independent Party candidate. Now, Keyes and the American Independent Party have filed suit in California to prevent that state from casting its Electoral College votes for President-elect Obama until he has provided proof that he is a natural born US citizen.

Typically, NBC News gets their information wrong:

Quote:

Some conservatives have questioned Obama's citizenship in recent months. Obama says he was born in Hawaii in 1961.

Questions regarding the citizenship of President-elect Obama have been brought to national attention by Democrats Philip Berg in Pennsylvania, and Andy Martin, who has filed suit in Hawaii.

Both Berg and Martin supported the candidacy of Sen Hillary Clinton during the Democratic Primary.

Dave, I downloaded the petition and this one as opposed to the Berg petition goes into more detail in several questions concerning Obama's citizenship.

It covers the 1981 trip to Pakistan when US travel was not allowed and no passports issued. The question of Hawaiis pre 1972 law which allowed birth certificates issued up to one year after birth to anyone who applied regardless of whether they were born in Hawaii or not.

It also covers the Hague convention leaglity that did not allow any US citizen to have duel citizenship which was in effect while Obama attended school in Indonesia which required citizenship in order to attend school.

Listing the CA Sec of State and all of the electors requires them to know his eligability before they vote under penalty of a 1K fine or up to 16 months in prison or both.

This one could actually go somewhere. The petition also states that the reason that the Hawaii petition dropped on October 31 was NOT because Obama presented a certificate but because a witness from the Hawaii records testified that they ,"saw," Obama's certificate but not that it was a live birth or just a certificate of birth.

Talk about a Constitutional crisis . This could get pretty hairy and it should because this guy has been stalling for some reason when all he had to do is show a live birth certificate from Hawaii and it would have been put to rest. Why fight so hard if there is nothing to hide !?!?!?!

As Leo Donofrio maintains, the fact of the matter is that Obama's having been born of a father who is not a U.S. citizen is, in and of itself, the whole of the argument that affirms that he, Obama Jr., is NOT a "natural-born" citizen of the United States, regardless of where he was born. This fact trumps all other issues and would explain why, of the three lawsuits now docketed with the U.S. Supreme Court, it is Donofrio's lawsuit that the Supreme Court Justices are now considering to hear.
