I would have to say that, yes, Ashcroft is probably toxic. I don’t think he would want to subject himself to the rigors again anyway.
Talent is most certainly a solid conservative. Since being ousted from the Senate by Classy Claire McCaskill he has been a scholar with Heritage. Hopefully he, or some other solid conservative, could be persuaded to take on Bond. The guy has to go.
