Democrats are asking their members to show support for their representatives by sending a letter to the editor of their local paper.
Show your representative that their constituents support reform
Last weekend, the House of Representatives passed legislation that would bring truly comprehensive health reform to America.
After this major decision, representatives will be watching their district very closely to see how constituents react. So we must publicly show that voters thank those who worked hard for reform and are counting on representatives who voted “no” to deliver in the future.
Will you help make the case for reform by writing a quick letter to the editor of your local paper?
This is how you can get on the action and instead of sending their letter… use their link to compose your own version letting yor local editor now that you “do not” support a government takeover of Health Care!
TMR is asking you to flood their link with our letters against the bill!!!
Follow these steps:
1. First it asks for your zip code
2. After you enter your zip code you are directed to a page to give your address info…
3. Then you click on the boxes of your local papers…
4. Then DO NOT CLICK NEXT but instead click “Compose Letter” which in the middle of the top of the page…
5. Write your letter and then click next
6. Preview it and then click to Email it!!!

Few would argue that our health care delivery system is perfect. Neither the legislative fixes passed by the House nor the Baucus and Kennedy bills in the Senate address the problems with it, however.
The most basic problem with our health care system is the third party payer model. Since patients are insulated from the cost of their treatment by the bewildering insurance paperwork maze, when they are charged for a service their anger is directed at the insurance company, and not the provider. Providers, meanwhile, have to learn insurance provider coding practices rather than spending their time treating patients. These factors increase cost and decrease quality.
Adding another public payer to the mix will only make these things worse.
The way to “keep insurance companies honest”, as our President puts it, is to allow people to purchase insurance on their own, of the kind and type they want, from whomever they wish, rather than forcing them to buy it through their employer, mandating what must be covered, and declaring when and if they can change providers.
The bills before the Senate and passed by the House do none of these things. In fact, they will make these problems worse. There is no bureaucracy quite as bad or quite as difficult to get rid of as a government bureaucracy. It is foolish to rush into creating another one, especially one this big.
Thank you for reading and publishing my letter.
