It looks like the Democrat machine (one dominated by 527's like MoveOn.org and other) doesn't like competition ans is looking to drive groups like Freedom's Watch from the political scene.
The Washington Times reports via Power Line that the DCCC is trying to make groups like Freedoms Watch, who are poised to spend millions of dollars in attack ads, too unsavory for republicans to associate themselves with.
Using accusations of links to gambling and "forced abortions," the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is striving to make the group, Freedom's Watch, too toxic for Republicans to stomach.
"House Republicans and Republican candidates need to decide whether they can afford to partner with Freedom's Watch, a group that embodies the Republicans' culture of corruption by consistently breaking the law and is bankrolled by money that is inconsistent with their values," said Jennifer Crider, communications director for the DCCC.
Democrats are obviously feeling the pressure from groups like Freedom's Watch narrowing what is a huge gap in funds between Democrats and Republicans this cycle. According to Open Secrets.org that gap is more than 3 to 1 in the Dems favor. I'm with John from Power Line in saying that the Democrats don't like "their supremacy challenged".
The jealousy with which the Democrats guard their financial superiority is indicated by an over-the-top email that the Democratic National Committee sent to the party faithful this morning. It noted that John McCain is holding a fundraiser tonight:
While we're choosing our nominee, the Republican machine is working their way across the country, raising money and expanding their bank accounts.
What are they going to do with that money? Attack. As soon as we have our nominee, they'll unleash a flood of expensive negative attacks to try to define our candidate.
That's why we have to be ready for anything -- we can't let them Swift Boat us right out of the gate.

Everywhere John McCain goes his handlers are organizing fundraising receptions, catering to special interests and lobbyists. It's straight out of the George Bush and Karl Rove playbook.
While our primary continues, we can't afford to let John McCain and the Republican machine get a financial advantage. Help us and our nominee stay competitive.
The idea of John McCain having a "financial advantage" is ludicrous; Barack Obama, the greatest money machine in American political history, has out-raised him more than three to one. That's an advantage the Democrats obviously have no intention of surrendering.
The DCCC has also filed complaints arguing that Freedom's Watch and the NRCC coordinated their campaigns. Both entities have said the collaboration charge is wrong. And again I would say that the D-Triple-C is reaching here and you better not open that can of worms least you find people like me poking around the links between the Democrat Party and 527's.
I'll leave you with a quote from NRCC press secretary, Ken Spain, on this issue:
"If Democrats want to waste their time and resources on filing politically motivated complaints, then we hope they continue to do so. Their obsession with this conspiracy theory has gone from being ridiculous to the point of sheer lunacy,"

from me. I hope they hit Obama hard over and over.
