1: Nancy Pelosi at least comes across as a partisan hack. I haven't looked into her much to know for a sufficient degree of certainty.
2: Her previous characterizing of pork barrel as being legislative induced spending was odd.
3. That was a very short clip that picked up in the middle of things, the full transcript could make things appear more odd or less odd.
4. If the oil is drilled now, it won't be there in the decades to come to drill. Safety Stock anyone?

that the future is alternative fuels -- biofuels, biodiesel, electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cells. If these are the vehicles of the future there won't be any need of holding onto that underground supply of oil.
But, while the infrastructure for those new technologies is being developed it only makes sense to use as much of our own domestic oil as possible -- weaning us of foreign oil -- and no longer sending billions of dollars to nations that hate.
