That bothered me. Alternative energy is priority, a MUST DO. CHANGE!!

We need oil to get us to those alternatives. Without it, the technology (that seems to always be ten years away) will never have a chance to get here. Oil is the bridge to the alternative energy future.

I think I can say, and say with pride, that we have legislatures that bring higher prices than any in the world. ~ Mark Twain

She also name many other sources for alternative energy beside just oil. Using many sources sounds quite prudent to me.

of ONLY drill or alternative energy.

That is what the debate always seems to get boiled down into. NOBODY is suggesting that NO alternatives be persued. OTOH, the entire world runs on oil. Any viable alternative energy source is decades away from widespread use -- not 10 years but decade(s).

Assume if you will, that a reasonable alternative is discovered that can somehow rid the US of the need for oil for automobiles and power. We will still need oil for the production of everything from plastic to baby aspirin.

Drilling for OUR OWN domestic oil rids us of the need to import oil from countries who do not particularly like us. And IF, down the road, we are able to become able to import NO foreign oil -- we can sell our OWN oil to a world hungry to develop their own economies.

Exports -- now there is a concept. Develop our own alternative energy sources and sell that high priced oil to the rest of the world to the benefit of the American people. Oil creates jobs for Americans. Oil is what runs the world economy.

Export American jobs to Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.

Election 2008: Now, at long last, I really and truly believe the GOP can do this!
