Scandal: Texas College Republican Official Boasts of ‘Hook-Up,’ Slams ‘Fags’

In a stunning online video (below the fold), the chairman of the Texas College Republicans is seen apparently boasting that he got “hammered” and sexually “hooked up” with a girl while partying with Alex Schriver, a candidate for chairman of the College Republican National Committee.

The video purports to show Texas CR Chairman Charlie McCaslin deriding as “nerds” and “fags” the supporters of Schriver’s rival for the national chairmanship, Ohio CR chairman Jonathon Snyder.

The video adds new intensity to an already heated campaign for the national CR chairmanship between Snyder, a student at Ohio State University, and Schriver, from Auburn University. The election will be held July 30 at a convention in Washington, D.C. The video was posted online by Innovate CRNC, the committee supporting Snyder’s candidacy for national chairman.

“No apology or explanation can make this reprehensible behavior acceptable,” Snyder said in a statement posted on his committee’s Web site. “Having a Chairman who is willing to accept and then toast degrading remarks about women, homophobic slurs and juvenile behavior against anyone is unacceptable. . . . Were Alex Schriver sitting in the Chairmanship of the CRNC currently, this would permanently damage the organization’s integrity and trust with both donors and the Republican community at-large.”
