Poll: Herman Cain Tops Saxby Chambliss in Primary

From Politico:
Herman Cain would crush Sen. Saxby Chambliss in a Republican primary if the pizza mogul were to run in 2014, according to a poll released Tuesday.
Cain led Chambliss (R-Ga.) 50 percent to 36 percent in a survey from Public Policy Polling.
Of those surveyed, 45 percent approved of the job the incumbent is doing, while 36 percent disapproved. In contrast, 68 percent said they had a favorable opinion of Cain, the former presidential hopeful, and 20 percent had an unfavorable view.
The bulk of those questioned said they wanted a GOP Senate nominee to the right of Chambliss: 43 percent said they preferred someone more conservative than he is, while 38 percent said they wanted him to stay the nominee.
“I’m a problem-solver and a lot of people don’t want problem-solvers — they’d rather have the issue,” Chambliss told POLITICO earlier this week. “And I’m very open at home that I’m going to continue to work hard to solve problems because our country’s in trouble, and you can’t do it without Democrats and Republicans working together.”
PPP also offered match-ups with other possible primary challengers, including outgoing Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) and RedState.com editor Erick Erickson, but Chambliss bested all except for Cain.
Cain has said he is not seeking the Senate seat.
Herman Cain and Ken Blackwell Join Forces to Protect Your Vote: Keep America Free, Mr. Eric Holder!
(Alexandria, VA) Former Presidential Candidate Herman Cain and Ken Blackwell, Senior Fellow at the American Civil Rights Union and former Ohio Secretary of State, launched a video today taking on Attorney General Eric Holder’s position that Voter ID measures are racist. The ACRU has launched a new campaign called Protect Your Vote, an effort to protect states’ rights to require voters to present ID cards at the polling place. www.protectyourvote.us.
Herman Cain and Ken Blackwell join forces to protect your vote. Voter ID laws offer a “reasonable safeguard” to protect against voter fraud and ballot-box stuffing.
The Obama administration has “launched an all-out war on voter ID laws” to bolster the president’s re-election chances.
The ACRU has launched a new campaign called Protect Your Vote, an effort to protect states’ rights to require voters to present ID cards at the polling place. www.protectyourvote.us
“Protecting the integrity of the ballot box is essential to our democracy,” Blackwell says.
“Laws requiring voters to show identification at the polls are common-sense measures to prevent fraud and corruption and to ensure that each year’s election returns accurately reflect the will of the people.
“With the attack led by the Obama Justice Department on voter ID laws across this country, ACRU has decided to mount a counteroffensive to protect the integrity of ballot boxes all across our country.”
Bachmann backs Rohrer for U.S. Senate
From the Harrisburg Patriot-News:
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sam Rohrer added Minnesota Congresswoman and former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann to his growing list of high profile endorsements Wednesday, according to a campaign news release.
Though not endorsed by the state GOP, Rohrer had led in most polls until better-financed candidate Tom Smith recently began running television ads.
But Rohrer created a splash last weekend when former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain endorsed the former Berks County state representative in person at the Pennsylvania Leadership Conference, an annual gathering of commonwealth conservatives.
Rohrer told reporters during the conference that more heavy-hitter endorsements were coming and delivered Wednesday with Bachmann.
“Our campaign is gaining significant momentum and support from conservatives all over the country,” said Rohrer. “I am proud that conservative leaders like Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain have boldly backed my race against two candidates who were members of the Democratic Party before conveniently changing their party alliance prior to this election.”

A Trio of New Candidates Adopts 9-9-9; Pledge to Take on Goliath
For Immediate Release
March 23, 2012
(Atlanta) Businessman and former presidential frontrunner Herman Cain is proud to announce a trio of candidates for U.S. office have formally adopted his 9-9-9 Economic Recovery and Jobs Program.
Steve Foley is running for Congress in California’s 47th district – an open seat.
In Georgia, Rick Allen is seeking the office of U.S. Representative in the 2nd district, the southwest corner of the state.
They are joined by Zach Poskevich whose ambition is to be the next United States Senator from Tennessee.
All three Republican candidates are drawn to the bold, solution-based ideas behind 9-9-9.
Cain praised the trio for their bold positions.
“While many candidates stand on the sidelines waiting for advisers and polling to tell them which direction to go, these candidates have demonstrated they are willing to take the lead and do what’s right,” Cain said. “They understand that in order to fix a problem, you need to be unafraid to start from scratch. That’s what 9-9-9 does – gets rid of the current disaster that is our federal tax code and starts from scratch.”
Cain looks forward to these candidates taking on the ‘Goliath’ that our federal government has become, and encourages others to step forward to do their part.
The number of candidates for federal office in 2012 who have adopted the ’9-9-9′ Economic Recovery and Jobs Program and pledged to enact it into law now stands at 31.
Candidate commitments to 9-9-9 are a part of the much broader Cain’s Solutions Revolution. To learn more, including the April 16, 2012 event “Revolution on the Hill”, please visit the website here.

Pete Hoekstra commits to Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan
From Grand Rapids Press:
GRAND RAPIDS – Herman Cain said today that former U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra has pledged support for the one-time presidential candidate’s 9 percent tax plan.
Hoekstra, a Holland Republican seeking to challenge and upend U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, will tour the state with Cain on Thursday, making stops in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Ypsilanti and Troy.
Cain’s tax plan calls for the elimination of the current tax system, replacing it with an across the board 9 percent tax on personal income, corporate income and a national sales tax.
Projections by the Washington Times show it would bring in only $1.8 trillion, $360 billion short of what the government currently rakes in annually. Cain has said his plan is revenue neutral and would take of as the economy rebounds. He said it returns power to the people and takes it away from the government.
“Adopting my 9-9-9 tax plan is one way to do just that,” Cain said in a news release. “I’m delighted to have Pete on board.”

Herman Cain To Deliver Tea Party State of the Union Response
Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the nation’s largest tea party political action committee, is announcing that Herman Cain will be delivering the Tea Party State of the Union response at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on the evening of January 24th, 2012.
Sal Russo, Chief Strategist of the Tea Party Express, said, “We are excited to have Herman Cain deliver the 2nd Tea Party State of the Union response next week. Americans are fed up with the Washington politics that fail to address America’s fiscal woes. The Tea Party Express has called for reducing the size, cost and intrusiveness of the federal government, and we have stood strongly for pro-growth policies to get the economy growing and job creation increased.
“We are enthusiastic that a successful conservative governor like Mitch Daniels of Indiana will be giving the Republican response. I know that both Governor Daniels and Mr. Cain will contribute important ideas for the future of our country.
“Herman Cain has been a steadfast advocate for the values of the Tea Party and the practical solutions needed to solve the problems that face our nation. By following President Obama, Mr. Cain will have an opportunity to square off with the failed policies of the Obama Administration. Whether it is a flat tax, a fair tax or a combination of the two, reforming the tax code must be a priority. Americans want straight talk and honest solutions, and Herman Cain will deliver a pro-growth message strongly and clearly,” Russo concluded.
The Tea Party Express hosted the first ever Tea Party State of the Union Response last year with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Congressional Candidate Steve Foley Embraces “9-9-9 PLAN” For Real Tax Reform
“9-9-9 PLAN” FOR REAL TAX REFORM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 17, 2012
Steve Foley, congressional candidate in California’s 47th District, announced today that he supports the “9-9-9 Plan,” a package of tax reforms first proposed by former presidential candidate Herman Cain.
The 9-9-9 Plan has gained a substantial following among voters nationwide, both for its simplicity and the economic benefits it would yield.
“I support the 999 Plan because it’s time for bold solutions and broad reform,” Foley asserted. “Our elected leaders habitually tinker around the edges of tax reform, making small insignificant changes. Real action and reform are now required.”
First and foremost, the 9-9-9 Plan would provide a pro-growth shot in the arm to a struggling U.S. economy. “The departure of business from the U.S. to more business-friendly nations has become an epidemic,” Foley acknowledged. “Our country now has the highest corporate tax structure in the world. It hurts average Americans. When business goes, so do jobs.”
Foley explained that the 9-9-9 Plan would contribute to a reversal of this negative trend by establishing a much lower corporate tax structure. “Many existing companies would return to U.S. shores under less burdensome tax conditions.” Just as importantly, the 9-9-9 Plan would provide emerging business with strong incentive to base operations in the U.S. “Thriving business is the lifeblood of a healthy economy,” Foley stated.
Foley noted that the 9-9-9 Plan had many additional advantages. In shifting the burden of taxation from production to consumption, it would increase capital formation, fueling productivity and wage growth. It would also allow immediate expensing of business investments. All deductions and special interest favors would be eradicated under the 9-9-9 Plan, making for greater fairness, neutrality, and transparency. Moreover, some of the most hated taxes would completely disappear, including:
• All payroll taxes
• The death tax
• Double taxation of dividends
• Taxation of capital gains and repatriated profits
Foley observed that the everyday citizens can no longer hope to comprehend the vastness and complexity of the existing, antiquated, oppressive federal tax code. “At 72,536 pages and growing yearly, the current tax code is the very definition of out-of-control government. The 9-9-9 Plan would instead be simple, powerful, and effective. It’s time for common sense on Capitol Hill.”
“In embracing the 9-9-9 Plan,” Foley declared, “I’m sending a clear signal that I’ll be an agent of real, positive reform in Washington. Idle chatter just won’t cut it anymore.”

Herman Cain backs Craig Miller for US Senate
From the Associated Press:
ATLANTA (AP) – The former Republican presidential frontrunner is back in the spotlight. Herman Cain came to Orlando on Thursday to endorse Craig Miller as the best Republican to beat Senator Bill Nelson in the fall. This is his first endorsement of a candidate since dropping out of the presidential race. He tells FOX 35 that Miller’s support of his 9-9-9 plan was a major reason for the endorsement
Cain says he agrees with Miller “95 percent of the time.” The major source of disagreement was over pizza. Miller used to run Uno’s and Cain ran Godfather’s. Cain says he hopes to eventually get 9-9-9 implemented as law, even if it will not be him signing the bill as the president.
To make it part of the Republican Party platform, Cain said he would, “Keep it alive from the bottom up. When I ended my bid for the presidency, the most often made comment from people as I traveled around the country, ‘Mr Cain keep 9-9-9 alive.’”
Miller is trailing in the polls but believes this endorsement will help him. When asked how he could be so far behind Connie Mack IV, he responded, “My name is not Babe Ruth.”
Cain is planning to make other endorsements of congressional candidates from around the country. He will also announced his presidential endorsement on January 19, in South Carolina. He would only say this would be an unconventional endorsement, and the news media would not like it.
