Fitch has upgraded its rating for Greece from triple-C to B-minus, reversing a ratings cut that occurred during the height of the credit crisis last year (Richard Barley in The Wall Street Journal, subscription access)

The action reflects reduced fears of a Greek exit from the Eurozone and improving fundamentals:

Fitch estimates Greece has clawed back 80% of the competitiveness lost during the boom against its euro-zone peers. The country has undertaken its first major privatization since its bailout, and its banks are being recapitalized, as well as seeing deposits return.

While this action only affects private bonds, the perception of stability is improving prospects for the country’s mammoth public debt obligations, where yields have declined from 30% at the height of the crisis to 9.3%.

It is too early to say whether Greece is out of the woods yet financially. But there is no doubt about the scars left in the Greek psyche by austerity and employment, not to mention the smoldering resentment about being subject to the dictates of the double B: Berlin and Brussels.

If that’s not evidence enough that the outfit is making good on its promise to restructure around digital media, hear this: the company just announced a slew of enhancements to its Digital Publishing Suite (DPS), which Conde Nast and others use to format magazines for mobile devices. For starters, publishers now have a way to tailor content specifically for the iPhone, just as they can for the iPad, Kindle Fire and Android tablets. More
